When we were working out how to get into karting here in Thailand, we looked at the Rotax, Iame and Roc engine championships. It was clear that some of the three put on better events than others, but it was the Rotax engine that seemed not only to have the best reliability, but also the best long-term package.
Basically, the Rotax 125 Junior Max EVO engine would serve us across multiple categories by simply changing the electronics and few other power-liberating parts. So, with a tech-friendly and financially sound engine, we moved up to Junior class earlier than we had to and set about closing the gap to the fast drivers!
There is another benefit to the Rotax Max Challenge (RMC) series… It offers the “dream” prize of sending the winners of all RMC championships in the world to compete in the “Grand Finals” at no cost! Whether we can get there or not, it was a great thing to aim for.
